John Strodl violin
This John Strodl violin is dated 1869 and was made in New York. It has a delightful tone and is very responsive. The scroll and neck are particularly beautiful, made with highly flamed maple. The sides are back are more lightly flamed. The violin suffered a sound post crack under the bridge which has been properly repaired with a sound post patch. It also has wing cracks, two small F hole crack and a 9 cm back crack all of which have been glued and cleated. Fresh set up with Dominant strings.
